Astrid & Gastón

Nothing better than light, fresh seafood on a miserably hot and sticky summer day in the “Paris of South America”. Especially when it’s prepared Peruvian-style, with plenty of tart lime juice and spicy chile to wake up your heat-stricken, sweaty face. I enjoyed just this at Astrid & Gastón the other day, 3 great marine…

Airline Food is Not Really Worth Writing About

An explanation for why I’ve had writer’s block for the past month or so… ….I’ve been traveling just a little bit. Disgusting for the most part, although I have to say that Lufthansa Star Chefs’ Greek Salad (?) with cucumber, feta cubes, black olives (kalamata would’ve been great…) and slightly pickled onion slivers was not…

Not-So Unconventional Eats at Peach Farm

Back in Boston from the land of the conventional, the land of milanesas, pastas and pizzas, I was cravin something “bizzarre” – I understand that this phrase is relative, so let’s say “unconventional for the Western palate.” So I called up a friend who is also into weird shit when it comes to food and…

A Delicious Sandwich at Florencio Bistro & Patisserie

Street-food style sopes with black beans, pickled cactus or salty, spicy, hand-mixed chorizo;  braised beef or pulled pork tacos topped off with clove/all-spice flavored…

The Americana at El Club de la Milanesa

Normally I don’t really like writing about chains but this time I’ll make an exception since 4 out of 5 Argentines I know have told me to come to this place. I was hesitant to and, on retrospect, 100% right to be so. I love milanesas, mostly because they remind me of a Hungarian granny-food…

NOLA Night at The Office

Tasty fried fish and (slow-)roast beef po’boys with spicy cajun cole slaw on the side. Heavenly little mini muffalettas made with ham, salami, mortadella, cheese and olives. And for dessert, stawberry spongecake with fresh whipped cream. Yummmmm.
